Bridges are designed to fill gaps between healthy teeth. These artificial teeth are usually made of crowns, held in place by cementing crowns over the healthy teeth on either side of the gap.
Bridges can be used to span gaps of a few teeth (partials) for the full mouth (full dentures). They are considered permanent and can only be removed by a dentist.
Dentures are made to fit the full mouth or to span gaps (partial dentures). They rest on the gums and are secured by suction or by held in place by adhesive cream.
In cases when there are no healthy teeth, the dentures may need to be secured to the jawbone. Implants are used to hold these dentures in place.
